Run #404 Monday, May 14
*It was a dark and stormy evening.
The hardy hounds of the Seattle Hash House Harriers gathered north of the
border (King County border, that is) for the first Monday trail of the year at
Ballinger Lake.
The usual suspects of FC, Gallopin’ (Iron Lady stayed home so she
wouldn’t get her shoes muddy), Ass-ma, Chicken Tracks, STAFUYA, Where’s
& Crash, Fish, Anahymen and I arrived with the feeling of
Déjà vu (hadn’t we been near here last week when the moon was
full?). Any possible NFP’s
had the common sense to stay home.
After briefing (or was it debriefing) the pack the Hare pair of Bitch
‘N Hoe and 100dB sent us off sniffing for flour.
We headed back out the road we came in on and took a right into an
apartment complex off of a check. Trail
was found to go up a steep slope covered with wet grass and sharp rock that BNH
was rumored to have laid in a dress (okay, scouted).
From there we wound our way through several neighborhoods and across I-5
until we found ourselves heading down steep, muddy ravine and on a frisbee golf
course that also happened to be the site of a beer check.
Although we rejoiced in the beer the there was also pissing and moaning.
Gallopin’ and I did the pissing; 100dB did the moaning about having to
carry the empties back to the start.
Off again we were through the neighborhoods.
Trail was not always easy to find, as the hares decided to hide their
marks in the gutter. Let me think,
does it ever rain in Seattle? Although
many of the marks were washed away we managed to find our way to another (yeeha)
beer check at a Park and Ride by I-5.
After short jaunt back across I-5, we found ourselves running downhill
and back to the start for the On In. The
Circle was cut short due to the liquid sunshine, but we vowed to continue at the
piss-up. With that we headed
(did you say “Head”) to McSphincter’s Pub where, as we learned the week
before, the service would give us plenty of time for more down-downs.
